White Willow Bark Tincture

White Willow Bark, Salix alba, may help occasional minor pain from injury. This herb was used by indigenous Native Americans well before Columbus or the Vikings inhabited the land. It has also been used for healing in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 1828, German chemist named Felix Hoffman isolated the active ingredient in this herb and named it salicin. In 1899, the Bayer Company began to manufacturing and selling a modified form of the willow bark chemical acetylsalicyclic acid, or aspirin. This pioneer of the modern miracle medicines has been a pillar in the treatment of joint pain ever since.  

A tincture is substance that contains an herbal medicine in an alcohol solution. The herbs are soaked, shaken, and carefully strained from grain alcohol. This creates a strong solution of the extracted active nutrients from plants to form a concentrated liquid. This solution is then consumed because of its medicinal properties and easily absorbed into the bloodstream.

 Dosage:

• Shake bottle well, open and squeeze the dropper bulb
• 1 droppers full, 2-5X a day
• Release the recommended serving (as per each label) into at least 2 oz of water or juice
• For the best results, repeat this process as directed by the Suggested Use instructions on the product label.
• A single “dropper full” in a standard tincture bottle is around 1 ml, and a teaspoon is 5 ml.
• This tincture can also be taken straight without water. However, it is recommended that you dilute it in 4 - 6 oz of water, tea (iced or hot), or juice.
  

Contradictions - Always check your medication for compatibility when supplementing with herbs and alternative healing methods. Use in persons with sensitivity to aspirin or other salicylate-containing drugs is cautioned. Use in persons with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency is cautioned.

Store in cool, dark space. And do not refrigerate.
